So I had my second eye surgery in 10 years last week. I think I've become more of a chicken with age, because I was a lot more nervous this time, than I was when I first had the procedure 10 years ago. Anyways, I'm glad it turned out great and I hope I don't have to have another one done till I'm at least in my 50s or 60s.
These pics are frames from the video taken during the surgery and the days following. I don't think the staff knew the procedure was being filmed because I know last time I was there, they explicitly said we were not allowed to film the surgery. Thank goodness for smaller discrete cameras.
I learnt he was actually scraping my eyeball because of scar tissue from the previous surgery. I'm glad I didn't know that till after the fact. I remember that it felt like someone was sticking their finger in my eye and I had to make sure that it was normal to feel something. Because I was told I was given some eye drops to make the eye numb. So I asked the surgeon and he said it was normal to feel a little something. I just wanted to be sure, better safe than sorry.
The procedure itself was painless and over in a few seconds. I just had to keep my head super still. Easier said than done. The surgeon had to hold my head to keep it steady.
And then...in a matter of seconds it was over. I was so relieved.
Had to wear an eye patch at home for a couple of days because the bright light was too intense for me.
On the 3rd day I was still super sensitive to light and everything was blurry. But after 5 days, thing started to go back to normal, mercifully. It was torture not to be able to get on the computer, watch tv or read.
