I woke up today to another white morning. I love the snow actually....as long as its not wet and slushy. It was an almost perfect day walking to work in a winter wonderland, listening to some Malian tunes on my mp3 player, when I was almost hit by not one, but 3 cars.
One thing that really pees me off about some drivers here, is that when the traffic lights change for people to cross, the cars turning right have a habit of edging pedestrians off the road, even though it's the pedestrian's right of way. As a pedestrian, you end up having to walk fast or run across the road so that the drivers can turn. Which in my opinion is ass backwwards.... I stopped doing that a long time ago.... I take my time and cross the road even though the driver is giving me the stink eye and trying to get me to walk faster, by slowly edging the car closer and closer to me. I get why they are in a hurry...because once the lights change for the opposite lane to go, its almost impossible to turn until the light changes and once it does, the pedestrians start crossing....but they just have to learn to be patient.
Anyways, today the light had just changed for me and some other guy to cross this dual carriageway near my workplace. The guy crossed and I was right behind him when all of a sudden 3 cars suddenly turned right at me....it was like I didn't even exist. I looked the closest driver in the eye..as if to say...WTF? Normally if they have some kind of conscience, they stop in their tracks and wait for me to cross...but this guy obviously didn't have a conscience...he kept coming at me, till I panicked, slid on the snow and made a hasty retreat back to where I came from for fear of my life....and the 3 cars just sped on as if nothing had happened...I was tempted to throw a snowball on his truck, but I was too shaken to react quickly enough....
I've calmed down now....and will try not to let this incidence get to me.
